Traffic Pattern Changes at LCMS

Lewis & Clark Middle School Staff and Families,

Due to some pedestrian safety concerns on the LCMS campus, beginning Tuesday, February 21st, vehicle access and traffic patterns will change at Lewis & Clark Middle School.

Here's what you need to know:

Vehicles will only be permitted to access the LCMS campus via the lower drive (nearest McCarty Street) off of Eastland Drive. Student drop off and pick up will only be allowed on the North side of the building, which is identical to the current student drop off/pick up procedure.  These restrictions will be properly posted and effective from 7:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on days when school is in session.

What's new/what's changing?

1.  NO ACCESS (entrance/exit) to LCMS campus via upper drive off of Eastland Drive.  Permitted access will only be granted to buses and JCPS district deliveries.

2.  NO THROUGH TRAFFIC on Lewis & Clark Drive (in front of school) or through the staff/visitor parking lot.

3.  To enter the building with your student, you must park in the student/visitor parking lot. Do not park along the curb immediately in front of the building.

4.  The Jefferson City Police Department will be present during this time of transition – please do your part to ensure we all work together to make sure these new regulations, which were set in place for the safety of our staff and students, are followed.  Violations of the new ordinance may result in a traffic citation by JCPD.

Check out the video below to help outline and guide you through this new, improved process.

Be on the lookout for signs the City of Jefferson will be installing this week to indicate these changes.  JCPS has also worked closely with the Jefferson City Police Department on this much improved traffic enhancement to help protect the safety of our students and staff.

Thank you for doing your part to keep our teachers and students at LCMS safe!
