I was born and raised in Eldon, Missouri. I graduated from Eldon High School in 2002. I currently live here in Jefferson City with my husband (Jarrod) and two little boys. (Grant, 5 years old and Grayson, 4 years old) Outside of music making at school, I enjoy family time full of reading books, drawing and painting pictures, and finding JC Rocks.
This is currently my first year teaching at Simonsen and JCHS, and ninth year teaching overall. I graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelors in Music Education. I have taught sixth through twelfth grade vocal music at Eldon R-I School District, Macon R-I School District, and Warren County R-III School District before working for Jefferson City Public Schools. I am currently working on my Master in Music Education at Central Methodist University. I also like to further my education by being a member of the American Choral Directors Association, Missouri Choral Directors Association, and Missouri Music Educators Association. I also enjoy judging and being a clinician for varies choral activities in our area.
I believe that every child has the potential to learn. It is my job to teach in such a way that every child's individual educational needs are met. It is important that this learning is carried out in a safe, responsible, and respectful manner. It is my belief that students should be given time to work independently and in groups to foster critical thinking and processing skills.
