    Apple ID Problems & Solutions

    • Apple ID is already used although the account is not accessible through Manage my Apple ID
      • Email account is associated to another Apple ID as a Rescue or Alternative Email Address. Log on to other Apple ID using Manage my Apple ID. Go to Name, ID and Email Addresses. Then delete the email address under Alternate Email Address. Now you can create a new Apple ID using that email address.
    • After clicking on a Free App to install and then creating a new Apple ID, you do not get the option to select None as a credit card type.
      • Enter a credit card number. Go to iTunes and Sign in with the Apple ID. Use the drop down arrow by the account name and select Account Info. Click Edit next to Payment Type. Select None and click Done.

      • If you forget your Apple ID password, follow these steps to reset your password and regain access to the Apple features and services that use Apple ID. 
        There are two options:
        • If you know the answers to your security questions:
          • Go to My Apple ID (appleid.apple.com).
          • Click "Reset your password."
          • Enter your Apple ID and click Next.
          • Select "Answer security questions" as your authentication method. Click Next.
          • Select the birth date associated with your Apple ID, then click Next to begin answering your security questions.
          • After answering your security questions, you will be asked to enter and confirm your new password. Click Reset Password when done.
        • If you have access to the email addresses associated with your Apple ID:
          • Go to My Apple ID (appleid.apple.com).
          • Click "Reset your password."
          • Enter your Apple ID and click Next.
          • Select "Email authentication" as your authentication method. Click Next.
          • Apple will send a message to the primary email address or verified rescue email address associated with your Apple ID. Open the message and click "Reset Apple ID password".
          • When the My Apple ID page opens, enter and confirm your new password, then click Reset Password.

      • Turn off Messages and FaceTime

    Process for Stolen / Misplaced or Lost iPad

    • Find my iPhone helps you locate and protect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Mac if it’s ever lost or stolen. With iOS 7 or later, Find My iPhone includes a new feature called “Activation Lock”, which is turned on automatically when you set up Find My iPhone. Activation Lock makes it harder for anyone to use or sell your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch if it’s ever lost or stolen. With Activation Lock, your Apple ID and Password are required before anyone can: Turn off Find My iPhone on your device, Sign out of iCloud on your device or Erase and Reactivate your device.
      • Go to www.icloud.com
      • Sign in with the misplaced/lost iPad’s Apple ID
      • Click on Find my iPhone
      • Use the drop down arrow by “All Devices” and choose the missing device.
      • You can now locate your iPad on the map or choose from the following options:
        • Play a sound on your iPad to help find it
        • Use Lost Mode to lock and track your device
        • Remotely Erase all your personal information from the device

iPad Reset Instructions

  • How to Wipe an iPad to Factory Reset using iTunes
     
    If you have erased your iPad and the iPad says "JCPS Configuration", please follow these instructions to Wipe the iPad to Factory Reset using iTunes.
    1.  Hold down the "Sleep/Wake" button for several seconds until a red slider appears. Move your finger across the slider to turn the iPad off.
    2. Connect the iPad to the computer while holding down the "Home" button to turn on the iPad.
    3. Release the "Home" button when you see a message that says, "Connect to iTunes."
    4. Launch iTunes. iTunes will alert you that it detects a device in Recovery Mode.
    5. Click "OK" and click "Restore" to reset the iPad.
    6. Click "Restore and Update".
    7. The iPad can be disconnected from the computer after you see "Welcome to Your New iPad".
    8. Disconnect and follow on-screen instructions to setup iPad.
