Hello! My name is Dr. Kimberly Bruce, (a.k.a. "Dr. Kim"), and this is my 22nd year in education. Before coming to Lewis and Clark Middle School, I taught 8 years at North Elementary in the JCPS, 10 years at Bush Accelerated School in the Fulton Public Schools district, and worked 2 years for the MO Dept. of Education (DESE) in Effective Practices. While in Fulton, I coached competitive middle school and high school dance teams and taught enrichment summer school classes K-8th in dance/fine arts. I began my interest in education by teaching tap, jazz, and ballet classes at Janet's Dance Studio in Mexico and Fulton MO and taught there as a hobby for 19 years. I have had the privilege in my career in education to have been able to teach students at every level K-12th grade, and many times see students grow up from being a Kindergarten student in my care to seeing them graduate, get married, and have children of their own.I live in Jefferson City with my husband, Steve, and two daughters Abigail and Sophia. Abigail is a 7th grader here at Lewis and Clark and Sophia is a sophmore at Capital City High School. Both girls keep us busy with their activities; they are involved in competition ice skating for Capital Classics Figure Skating Association, cheerleading at CCHS, band, stuco, tennis, and church groups at First United Methodist Church. Also, our family has one spoiled-rotten beagle named Eddie who always keeps us on our toes! (and has a GREAT smile; check it out below) :)My educational certifications include Elementary 1-6, Spanish K-9, Language Arts 5-9, Administration K-8. I recently completed my doctorate at William Woods for an Ed.D in Educational Leadership, have an Ed.S in Curriculum Leadership, M.Ed in Leadership and Policy Analysis, and a B.S.Ed in Elementary Education. I defended my dissertation on the topic "Does the iReady diagnostic score in reading and math predict if a student will score the same on the ELA or Math Missouri MAP assessment?" (If you don't want to read my dissertation, I'll give you the short answer....YES!!!!) I love learning about teaching and attending classes with others interested in the education field! Being an instructional coach and helping teachers be successful in the field of education has always been my dream and I am excited to begin my third year doing this at LCMS!In my free time, I enjoy reading Dean Koontz mysteries, scrapbooking, tent camping, spending time with family, going to my favorite restaurant (Red Lobster), and decorating wedding/birthday cakes/cookies! I am looking forward to a great year of teaching and learning with the students and teachers at LCMS!
