JCPS Teacher of the Year Named Mid-MO Regional Teacher of the Year
June 25, 2019
JEFFERSON CITY - Jefferson City Public Schools and the Jefferson City Public Schools Foundation are proud to announce that Regina Roe, the 2019 Eisinger Teacher of the Year, was chosen as a Regional Teacher of the Year by the Heart of Missouri Regional Professional Development Center in Columbia. Mrs. Roe is one of three regional winners from mid-Missouri. She now moves on to compete for Missouri State Teacher of the Year through the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, alongside 33 other regional winners from across the state.
“Regina Roe has demonstrated an extraordinary ability to effectively reach high school students as a teacher at Jefferson City High School for the past 25 years,” JCPS Superintendent Dr. Larry Linthacum said. “Our district has been blessed by her leadership, and we wholeheartedly congratulate her on this achievement.”
“I am extremely honored to be a Regional Teacher of the Year!” said Regina Roe. “I would not be the teacher I am today without the village I have been a part of through the years - my students, their parents, my co-workers, and my family. While this award has been bestowed upon me, it is really recognition for us all.”
Mrs. Regina Roe is a mathematics teacher at Jefferson City High School and has been a teacher for 28 years. She first taught in Columbia and then Harlingen, Texas before starting at Jefferson City High School in 1994.
In her application, Roe said, “I was born to be a teacher. I can’t NOT teach. I went into teaching to share my love of math, but I stay in teaching because I am impacting lives.”
Jefferson City Public Schools Eisinger Teacher of the Year
The Eisinger Teacher of the Year Selection Committee, comprised of Jefferson City area community members, chose the six finalists based on their written applications submitted in February. The selection committee then conducted personal interviews with each of the finalists to choose the Eisinger Teacher of the Year and the Eisinger Outstanding Educator. These awards were announced at the annual JCPS Staff Appreciation Banquet on April 25th at Lewis & Clark Middle School.
