Current JC Schools Deputy Superintendent’s experience includes 11 years as superintendent, principal at elementary, middle and high school
levels, and classroom teacher
JEFFERSON CITY – The Jefferson City School District today announced that Mr. Bryan McGraw has been named as the district’s new
superintendent to succeed Dr. Larry Linthacum, who is retiring at the conclusion of the 2021-2022 school year (June 30, 2022).
“The JC Schools Board of Education is incredibly proud to announce Bryan McGraw as the next superintendent of the Jefferson City School District after a unanimous (7-0) vote,” said Board President Ken Enloe. “Our district has made impressive progress in academics in recent years, and we are confident Mr. McGraw’s proven track record as an educator for 26 years, including 11 years as superintendent, will ensure we are well-positioned to continue that trajectory in the coming years.”
“As deputy superintendent for the Jefferson City School District, I have witnessed firsthand the commitment of our staff, students, and families to quality education,” Bryan McGraw said. “JC Schools is on a path toward great success. I will work diligently as superintendent to grow a district of champions — not only with great achievements within our schools, but also within our community. Through a continued focus on student academic, social, and extra-curricular success, we will transform our district to become the best place to learn and work in Missouri.”
Mr. Bryan McGraw has served a variety of roles in education over the past 26 years, including as a classroom teacher, intermediate school assistant principal (grades 6-8), acting elementary school principal, high school assistant principal and principal, and secondary education director. Prior to joining JC Schools as deputy superintendent, Mr. McGraw spent 11 years as the superintendent of schools for the North Pocono School District. There, he also served five years as the superintendent of record for the Career Technology Center of Lackawanna County.
During McGraw’s tenure as superintendent for the North Pocono School District: Jefferson Elementary was named as a National Blue Ribbon School; North Pocono High School was listed on the US News and World Reports Best U.S. High Schools four years in a row; North Pocono High School was listed on the Washington Post’s Most Challenging American High Schools five years in a row for how successfully the school challenges students; North Pocono High School was included in the AP District Honor Roll for increasing the access to advanced placement courses while maintaining or improving scores on AP exams, one of only two schools in the nation to be included for six consecutive years; and North Pocono High School was included in Newsweek’s America’s Top High Schools.
Mr. McGraw holds a bachelor’s degree from King’s College and a master’s degree from the University of Scranton. He received his Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility from the University of Scranton.
