Jefferson City School District Announces Director of Community Outreach and Student Assistance
Administrator with strong communication skills will bring relationship-building skills and intense focus on community and student collaboration to his role with the Jefferson City School District
JEFFERSON CITY – Jefferson City School District today announced that Chris Dawson, a Jefferson City High School graduate, has been hired as the director of community outreach and student assistance. He will begin his position in April of 2023.
“We are incredibly excited to welcome Chris back to Jefferson City and to the JC Schools leadership team. He is a seasoned leader who has all the skills required to communicate, manage and operate within our team,” said JC Schools Superintendent Bryan McGraw. “We are in an unprecedented time where mental health and other needs continue to change and grow rapidly. This position will be a bridge to help connect students and families with available resources within the district and the community. I have every confidence that Chris’ ability to grow relationships with staff and families will lead to better district success.”

Dawson’s experience in education includes serving as a high school math teacher, high school basketball, track and football coach, and collegiate basketball coach. In all positions, he has been responsible for developing relationships and good rapport for growth.
Dawson is currently a national accounts manager with Bosma Enterprises. For the past five years, he has been responsible for developing, maintaining and updating customer information and has also worked as vice president of national sales for The ClayGroup, LLC.
Dawson graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1989 where he was an all-state athlete, an academic all-state athlete and a member of the 1988 state championship football team.
He received his bachelor of science in engineering management from University of Missouri, Rolla in 1996. While at Rolla, Dawson was all conference basketball and football, a two-time basketball team captain and a hall of fame football and basketball inductee in 2011.
