JC Schools Announces Ryan Fick Named Head Boys Basketball Coach for Capital City High School

JEFFERSON CITY - The Jefferson City School District today announced that Ryan Fick will join the Jefferson City School District as the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Capital City High School (CCHS)

Fick has 24 years of coaching experience, 17 of which he spent as the head varsity basketball coach at Blair Oaks High School, where the team made two trips to the final four, five trips to the state quarterfinals and won 10 district championships. Fick picked up career victory #400 this past season.

Prior to coaching at Blair Oaks, Fick was the head basketball coach at New Bloomfield High School for four years. His career started with the Jefferson City School District where he served as the freshman assistant basketball coach at Jefferson City High School and the head 8th grade coach at Thomas Jefferson Middle School. Fick spent three years coaching under head Jays basketball coach Dave Fox, which was a great learning experience and helped shape his coaching philosophy.

“We are committed to building champion programs at JC Schools,” said Jefferson City School District superintendent Bryan McGraw. “In order to do that, we need champion leaders. Coach Fick has been a champion player and coach throughout his career. We can’t wait to see what is on the horizon at Capital City High School.”

“I am beyond excited to return to JC Schools with my passion for competing and leading young men in the great sport of basketball,” new CCHS Head Basketball Coach Ryan Fick said. “I coach with a ton of intensity and passion, and that will be a staple I will bring to the CCHS basketball program. I look forward to meeting the CCHS staff and players soon so we can hit the ground running to prepare for next season.”

Fick has been in education for over 24 years. His teaching experience includes his first three years in the Jefferson City School District followed by four years in the New Bloomfield R-III School District before transitioning to the Blair Oaks R-II School District. He has taught geography, social studies, physical education and health at the high school and middle school levels. Fick has also been an athletic director and assistant principal. He has a degree in secondary education.

Fick will also serve as an assistant activities director and physical education teacher beginning with the 2023-2024 school year. His wife, Stacy, is a principal in the Jefferson City School District at Cedar Hill Elementary. They have three children: Tim, Mallorie, and Owen.
