• My name is Jesse Oswald and I am the principal of East Elementary School. I have been a part of the Jefferson City School District for four years now. I spent last year at Thomas Jefferson Middle School. The previous year, I split time between Thomas Jefferson and Belair Elementary as an Assistant Principal. The two years prior, I was an Assistant Principal for Pioneer Trail Elementary.

I have lived in mid-Missouri my whole life. I recently finished my 14th year of education. I spent six years as a PE/Health teacher for all grade levels and seven years in an administrative role at the K-5 and 6-8 level. I have also coached baseball, track and field, volleyball, and both boys and girls basketball at different times in my career.

I played four years of college basketball and I graduated from Central Methodist University in Fayette, MO in 2008. In 2016, I graduated from Columbia College (MO) with a Masters in Educational Leadership. In 2018, I graduated from Arkansas State University with a Specialist in Educational Leadership. I am currently pursuing my Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Liberty University.

In my free time I love doing anything with my family. We enjoy anything sports related, playing video games or lazer tag, or just goofing off around the house or at a park. Coaching my two oldest sons, Miles and Marshall, at baseball this past summer was one of my favorite things ever. You might have also seen me at Memorial or Riverside Pool having fun with them, my girlfriend Sara and her two kids, Ethan and Ella, and our 8-month-old boy, Ronin. I love anything Missouri Tigers, St. Louis Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs, and Boston Celtics and am a big Star Wars and Marvel movie nerd.

I love being in and out of the classrooms and working closely with our champion staff or champion students. Building relationships with students is one of my favorite things to do, whether it is talking about one of our common interests, allowing them to educate me about something I know nothing about, or talking about their schoolwork and extracurricular activities. I love to strengthen the partnership with parents and guardians to help create a better opportunity for all students who walk through our doors. Just know that I am always there for the students, teachers, and parents/guardians to help create the best learning environment for our students. I understand it takes a village and we are all doing our part and doing the best we can and sometimes that looks different, which is OK - we are working towards the same common goal of bettering the lives of our students and our children every day. I love the motto at East and the mission we have: Every Student, Every Day, Whatever It Takes!!
