Each week we will be featuring a different staff member along with a short article by them about what's going on in their world.  This week our highlight is Mrs. Sabra Watts-Hayes, a 5th grade teacher.

Here's what she had to say about her classroom:

Fifth Grade Says No to Alcohol & Drugs

During Red Ribbon Week, which is celebrated to remind students to be alcohol & drug-free.  On Monday, students of our class wore red..."We were the Human Red Ribbons."  The class slowed down for a warm & cozy day in pajamas.  On Wednesday, we decorated our door for the door contest.  We themed it as a Giant Red Ribbon complete with "Just Say No", slogans that were created and designed by the members of the class.  Pledges from all students were hash tagged.  Being drug-free allows the students to be productive and healthy members of our community. In the classroom there was great discussions about how and why drugs & alcohol should be avoided.  Students shared stories of how they have been and can be effected by people who choose drugs.  Acting like they cannot get to you is a BIG mistake.  The picture says it all! We Are DRUG-FREE and have pledged to ALWAYS be! #RedRibbonWeek.
