Jefferson City Academic Center

Inspiring Possibilities... Defining Success

  • CEP national schools of character programs
In August 2006, the Jefferson City Academic Center, the district’s first alternative school, opened its doors. From the beginning staff agreed upon a rigorous and challenging curriculum, but felt strongly about the development of the “whole child” by integrating social and emotional skills into the curriculum to establish trusting and caring relationships with others. Together we model and practice our core values so there is understanding by all who become part of the JCAC community as we embrace and practice good character.

JCPS is excited to involve our staff, students, families - and the entire #JCMO community - in the process of naming our second high school, scheduled to open in August 2019. Follow the link to submit your recommendation for the school’s name by October 4, 2017 (responses are limited to one response per device). We look forward to bringing a slate of names to the community for public voting later this year. Nominations for school mascot and colors will follow in 2018.
