  • As a school counselor my schedule varies daily, but I welcome you to contact me by email or telephone. If I am unavailable please leave a message and I will respond when available. Please note that I am in classes all day every Wednesday. 

    Guidance is an integral part of the Jefferson City Public Schools' total education program. It is developmental by design and includes sequential activities organized and implemented by certified school counselors with the support of teachers, administrators, students, and parents. 
    Goals of the Elementary Counselor:
    • to help children understand themselves and others
    • To prevent problems from developing
    • to help identify children with special needs
    • to provide crisis intervention when necessary
    • to coordinate or facilitate the efforts of others with those of parents, teachers, and administrators
    • to help develop personalized programs based on each child's strengths, weaknesses, and needs
    • to provide career education activities
    Services provided by an Elementary School Counselor:
    • consulting with teachers, parents, administrators and others
    • listening in an effort to resolve conflicts
    • helping parents understand how to help their children
    • referring students to outside referral agencies when appropriate
    • consulting with other school professionals regarding curriculum decisions
    • helping students learn responsibility by becoming aware of the consequences of behavior
