Irving, LaKeesha / Meet the Teacher

Hello, my name is Mrs. Irving. I am the Special Education teacher at East Elementary. I have been in the Special Education field for 13 years. I hold Missouri certification in the areas of Special Education Mild/Moderate Cross Categorical K-12 and Elementary Education 1-6. I also hold certification in Special Education Administration K-12 as well as Principal K-8. I received my Bachelors of Arts degree in Speech and Language Pathology and Audiology from the University of Southern Mississippi in, May 2006. In May of 2009, I completed the Transition to Teaching program through the University of Missouri-St. Louis in order to obtain my Special Education certification. In 2011, I graduated from Lincoln University with my Masters of Education in School Administration and Supervision, Special Education.

I grew up in a very small town in south Mississippi. In October of 2006 I married my husband and moved here to Jefferson City. We have two small children, a girl and a boy. Being the mom of two small children and a teacher I do not have a lot of time to have any hobbies. However, my family and I like to travel, go to concerts, and I enjoy reading when I have a little extra time.
