This is my 21st year of teaching. I grew up and received my general education in Peoria, Illinois. I came to Jefferson City in 1984 to attend Lincoln University. I met and married a "local guy" and decided to make Jefferson City my home. I live here in Jefferson City with my husband, Brian, who was educated here in the Jefferson City public schools. Together we raised our 3 children, Jarrett, Brianna and Tristen, here in this great community.
As a little girl, I tutored and taught all of the younger neighborhood children. I have always loved to teach and I am happy that after 15 years of working in the computer field, I decided to follow my passion, teaching. I am aware of the academic, social and emotional needs of fifth graders. In my classroom, I have a picture of my own 5th grade picture to remind me and my students that I really was once a 5th grader and therefore I have understanding, empathy and compassion for 5th graders. I love my students and I pride myself with having a personal relationship with each one of them. Please feel free to visit us in the classroom at anytime and watch us grow into independent, confident and problem-solving individuals. I love to read, travel and shop. I feel that I can see and visit so many places, real and not-so-real, with these hobbies.
