• Personal Visits

Certified parent educators share research-based information through partnering, facilitating and reflecting with families during visits. We want to support YOU, the parent, as your child's first, most influential teacher so you can help them be ready to succeed in school and in life. Each visit is individualized for the family and child(ren) being visited, and lasts an hour. You may choose how often you'd like to visit with your parent educator--once a month, or more frequently. Most visits take place in the home where children feel most comfortable, but can be held at the Southwest Early Childhood Center or elsewhere upon request. Through personal visits, parent educators and parents work together to set and achieve goals related to parenting, child development, and family well-being, as well as brainstorming and problem-solving any concerns you might have. Parent educators will also share child development information and discuss topics such as attachment, discipline, health, nutrition, safety, sleep, and transitions and routines periodically, as they look different at various stages of children's development. Family well-being factors such as strengths, capabilities, skills and resource information will also be discussed, as what impacts the family affects the child.  Each visit will include a specially-selected parent-child activity and book-sharing time. Here are just a few comments from families in the JC Schools PAT program about home visits:

    ·       “[We enjoyed the] age appropriate activities at home (minimal supplies), ideas, 1:1 time with our child.”

    ·       “My educational background is in early childhood and elementary education, but PAT has helped me so much in remembering things about development, given me/us the confidence in parenting…with the help of PAT I feel our kids who stay at home will be equal to their peers when they get to Kindergarten.

    ·        “It was a chance to slow down from life a moment and get great advice from a professional.”
