• Group Connections

Group connections provide you and your child(ren) with parent/child activities where you can join with other parents as you discover more about your child's development. We also partner with other community professionals and resources to offer parent-only education events on topics such as Conscious Discipline®. Our group meetings are geared toward families with infants to children five years of age. Some of our popular past group connection events have included big vehicles, block night, and literacy events. To see our group connection fliers, follow us on Facebook page  .

    Home Visits

Personalized home visits are conducted by a certified Parent Educator, specially trained in child development and eager to help you give your child a head start! During these visits, you will partner together to set and reach goals for your child and family, discuss a variety of child development and parenting topics, and share a parent-child activity chosen especially for your family. To learn more about home visits, visit our Personal Visits page.

    Screenings

Developmental screenings offer parents a quick and effective way to look at how their child is learning and growing in the areas of health, vision, hearing, communication, physical development, problem solving and social/emotional development.  For more information about screening, including the screening tools used or to sign up for a screening, visit our Screenings page.

If you are participating in visits with a parent educator, most of your screenings will occur in your home.  If you are waiting to be assigned a parent educator, have chosen to participate in our PAT Lite program, or are not involved with PAT and are just interested in a quick check of your child's development, you can participate in a screening at our center.  Annual screenings are available for any child residing in the school district from three months through five years of age (not yet in kindergarten).

    Resource Connection

If you have any questions about resources and opportunities available in our community, your parent educator will be happy to share pertinent information with you.  We also love to learn about new programs and services from you.  If you don't have a parent educator, please reach out to our office and we will be happy to assist you.  All families enrolled in home visits, PAT Lite, waiting list, or our mailing list who have an email address on file receive email newsletters monthly during the school year; these include information about area events and resources for families with young children.  We also regularly share resources and events on our Facebook page.

    Wait List Status

JC Schools Parents as Teachers program occasionally develops a waiting list for personal visits, particularly for families who are only available for visits in the evening. If your family is added to the waiting list when you enroll in Parents as Teachers, you can still participate in all of the group connection events, come in for a screening appointment, and receive our monthly newsletter via email. Your family will be notified once a spot with a parent educator becomes available.

    PAT Lite

This program is for families who want to take advantage of annual developmental screenings, attend group connection events and receive our newsletter, but who have chosen not to receive home visits.  Please speak with your parent educator with any questions if you feel this program would be a good fit for your family.
