Group meetings provide you and your child(ren) with parent/child activities where you can join with other parents as you discover more about your child's development. Our group meetings are geared toward families with infants to children five years of age. Some of our popular past group connection events have included big vehicles, block night, and literacy events. Learn more on the "Group Connections" page to the left, and see details for this year's events on the calendar.Home Visits
Personalized home visits by a certified Parent Educator, specially trained in child development and eager to help you give your child a head start! To learn more about home visits, see the "Personal Visits" page to the left.
Developmental screenings offer parents a quick and effective way to look at how their child is learning and growing in the areas of health, vision, hearing, communication, physical development, problem solving and social/emotional development. For more information about screening including the screening tools used, visit the "Screening" page to the left.If you are receiving visits with a parent educator, most of your screenings will occur in your home. If you are waiting to be assigned a parent educator or have chosen to participate in our PAT Lite program, you can sign up for one of our screening dates here. Annual screenings are available for any child residing in the school district ages 3 months through five years of age (not yet in kindergarten).
ALL families are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to have their child(ren) aged six months and older screened for amblyopia (“lazy eye”) through the KidSight program. Using a Plusoptix photoscreening device trained technicians quickly and noninvasively take a picture of each child’s eyes and the device produces an immediate “pass” or “refer” result. No appointment is necessary for this this screening. KidSight will conduct first-come, first-serve vision screenings at the Southwest Early Childhood Center from 4:30-6:30 p.m. the following dates:Monday, November 19, 2018Thursday, April 4, 2019
