Hi! My name is Tara M. Barbour. This will be my 13th year teaching. I taught a year in 4th grade and then moved to 3rd grade where I have been ever since! I love teaching 3rd grade! Third grade is unique because students start to write in cursive, learn multiplication and are edging out of their primary years of elementary school. I challenge my students to take more responsibility for their learning and raise the expectations for learning content. I see a HUGE change in my student's independent level from the beginning of the year to the end of the year! Every year one of my biggest goals is to show students that reading can be fun and make them life long readers!! Students do a LOT of reading in my classroom!
I live in California (the city not the state!) with my husband Bryan. We have two boys, Kolten (23 years old) and McKayne (19 years old). We have a golden retriever/great pyrenees mix, Maggie Mae!! She is loveable but sheds everywhere!!! We also have a big, gray cat that has three names: Sassy, Sassafras, and Francis...he answers to all three! In my free time I like to read, take Maggie for a walk, and catch up on my TV shows.
