My name is Delora Scaggs and I completed my undergraduate degree at Truman State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. I then entered the Master's of Arts in Education Program and earned my Masters Degree in Education. I also have my Education Specialist Degree from Lincoln University and am currently pursuing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from St. Louis University.I have had the privilege of serving in the Jefferson City Public Schools for the past 23 years. Sixteen of those years were as a classroom teacher at K, 3rd, and 5th grades. For three years, I served in the position of Behavior Interventionist--all at East Elementary School. During 2017-2018, I moved to the middle school for the position of administrative intern at LCMS. In that capacity, I developed myself as an instructional leader. I supported the principal and staff in serving every students' individual needs and helped to make LCMS a school that is both challenging and welcoming to students and their families. I also served in the position of Assistant Principal for 3 years.
It is a true honor to be the Principal of Thorpe Gordon. I am excited to work with such a strong group of dedicated teachers, support staff, and families that are truly committed to making a difference in the lives of our students. I will continue to strive toward the goal of providing a safe, respectful, and responsible environment to ensure academic growth for all students at Thorpe Gordon. In addition to being an educator, I am married to my wonderful husband, Jason. We have three children; two boys and a girl. The oldest is a freshman in college, and we have a junior and senior in high school. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, reading, and working out.
