The JC Schools Parents as Teachers program currently has openings for families who are available to visit during the day, and a short waiting list for families with evening availability. CLICK HERE to enroll today. We are currently visiting with families in their home with masks, but also offer virtual visits via Zoom (or another video-conferencing platform) upon request. Home visits can also take place through a phone call, outdoors with social distancing, or at the Southwest Early Childhood Center with precautions in place.
Parents as Teachers is a parent education and support program for families with children from birth to Kindergarten entry, as well as expectant parents. It is designed to help you as a parent be able to help your child learn, grow and develop to realize their full potential.
Any family in the Jefferson City School District attendance area can take advantage of these services for FREE:
• Annual health/hearing/vision and developmental screenings for children age 1 months to 5 years (not yet in Kindergarten)
• Group connection events
• Resource information
Qualifying families can also take part in personalized home visits with a certified parent educator. Parents work with their educator to set and reach goals for their child and family, discuss a variety of child development and parenting topics, and share a parent-child activity chosen especially for their family. for more information about each of these services.
