  •    My name is Melissa Vernon. I am a JAYBIRD through and through!  I grew up in Jefferson City and attended Jefferson City Public Schools. After graduation, I went to UMC and received my degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. I also have a master's degree in Administration. I have been in education for 24 years. I loved being in the classroom for 17 years, and then I worked as an Instructional Coach at East Elementary for 6 years. This is my second year at PTE. Last year I worked as the AP and this will be my first year as Principal.  I love working with the extraordinary staff here and the students and families are awesome!
     
       I live in Jefferson City, MO with my husband Eric. We enjoy watching movies, spending time with family, and traveling. I really enjoy doing anything crafty when I am not at school. I also teach dance at a local dance studio for fun! We have two daughters. Becca Sue is 14 years old and loves to dance, draw and read.  Maggie Leann is 11 years old and she loves science,  playing outside, and dancing as well. We also have 3 four-legged family members. Chewy is our Maincoon cat, and our brother-sister duo Cheddar (biscuits) and Ravey (Gravey)
