    Hello parents and/or guardians! My name is Andrew Berhorst and I teach K-5 music at Pioneer Trail Elementary school. I am currently in year number five at PT. I graduted college from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri in 2013 with a Bachelor of Music degree in K-12 Vocal & Instrumental Education. I graduated high school from Linn High School (just down the Hwy. 50) in 2008.
     
    We moved from Jefferson City to Linn when I was four years old so I spent most of my childhood growing up in the sticks and spending time on my grandparent's farm. My graduating class was smaller than any class I have had here. My childhood dream was to be a proffessional baseball player but that dream was squashed early in high school. My love of music was rooted in my music teacher who I had from kindergarten all the way until I graduated high school. She has been a huge influence on my life and I would not be where I am without her. I've taken my educator philosophy from her: It's not about using children to make good music; it's about using music to make good children. 
     
    My wife Jennifer and I are currently residents of Jefferson City, Missouri. Jennifer and I married in 2017 and are currently expecting our first child in June. Brooklynn Paige Berhorst is supposed to be here on the 26th! It has been so exciting to share this news with the students to see their excitements for me. Jennifer may be recognizable to many of you as well considering she possibly teaches your students as well at Thomas Jefferson! We also have two dogs; Euphony, (euphonium meaning beautiful sound) the spoiled rotten Welsh Corgi and Diego, the crazy rescue blue heeler/coon mix. He is as smart as a blue heeler but he is as unintelligent as a coon hound.
