- Meet the Teacher
-
Hello! I am so excited about starting my fifteenth year teaching third grade at Pioneer Trail Elementary. I taught fifth and fourth grades at Belair before joining the Pioneer Trail family when it first opened in 2009.
I graduated from University of Central Missouri (UCM), formerly CMSU, in 1993 and taught in the Kansas City area as a Title One teacher for a semester. After my husband and I were married in 1994, we were stationed in Clearwater, Florida, where I taught first grade. We then moved to Kodiak, Alaska and we were there for almost four years. I was in the classroom a lot substituting and raising our two girls. In 2002 we packed up again and shipped off to Elizabeth City, North Carolina where I taught first and third grade. While teaching in North Carolina, I was recognized as Teacher of The Year in 2005, representing private schools. It has been an adventure getting to this point in my life. My husband, Kyle, was in the Coast Guard for twenty years and retired in 2007. He currently works as Chief Communications Technician for the Highway Patrol.
I come from a family of educators. In the 1930's my grandmother taught in a one-room school house and even graduated from UCM. Both of my parents graduated from UCM in education as well as both of my brothers. In 2012, I received my Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Development from William Woods University.
Our first daughter got married in June of 2022 and our second daughter went to SEMO and graduated with a degree in graphic design.I live out in the country and love every moment of it. We have four ducks, three cats, and two dogs. I enjoy reading, spending time with my family and being outside as much as possible.I will encourage your child to strive to do their absolute best in everything they try. I will expect these children to be respectful to everyone and at all times.
