HELLO PIONEER TRAIL!
My name is Ashley McCollum and I am the Physical Education and Health teacher at Pioneer Trail.
I have lived in Jefferson City since I was in second grade. In 2014, I graduated from Lincoln University with my B.S. Ed in Physical Education. I am also certified in Health Education and Elementary Education. This is my tenth year teaching, and I am ready for another GREAT school year of LOVING and TEACHING your kids!
I strive to build lasting relationships with all of my students. I think it is so important to truly know them on a personal level and learn about their many interests.
Here are some of my enjoyments and fun facts about me! I have two younger brothers. My favorite color is YELLOW, followed closely by orange! I LOVE to read. Baking is also one of my favorite hobbies. I am trying to master my grandmother's famous homemade pies. I am a regular in the Starbucks coffee line (or any coffee line for that matter) and Target is my HAPPY PLACE! I LOVE bananas. I have two absolutely obnoxious ginger cats, Silly and Sunny, and one giant pup, Ruby, who always keeps me on my toes. The three of them bring me so much JOY! I am an AUNT, my FAVORITE title, to my nephew Reese and my twin nieces, Myla and Nova. Two of my biggest accomplishments is that I have participated in a triathlon and rappelled off the Jefferson Building for the Special Olympics.
My Physical Education teaching philosophy is: Be Active, Have Fun, Show Respect, and Always Learn.
I look forward to working with each of you this school year and am excited to watch your children grow, learn, and ultimately succeed!
