Welcome to the Lewis and Clark Media Center! After 15 years in the classroom, I’m excited to be starting my third year as a Library Media Specialist. Previously I’ve worked with students in grades 6-12 teaching reading, writing, and history. All of my years in the classroom were spent with Deaf students, so don’t be surprised if you catch me signing or using my hands to get someone’s attention - it’s a habit!
Reading and books have always been a central part of my life. My mother volunteered at our local library and served on its Board, so I was basically raised there, spending my summer days tucked between the shelves exploring books and reading. When I got older my first job was working at that same library. I love spending my days surrounded by books, sharing with students all that they have to offer. Getting a box of new books for the Media Center is like Christmas! Some of my favorite authors right now include Lois Lowry, Jason Reynolds, Neil Gaiman, and Elizabeth Acevedo.
When I’m not enjoying a book you might find me pulling weeds from my flower beds, exercising with some kickboxing, or petting one of our cats.
I’m looking forward to seeing you in the Media Center, exploring all the books and technology at Lewis and Clark can provide to help us learn and grow.
