My name is Kate Leary and I am the Science teacher for Team Achieve at LCMS.
I have worked in the Jefferson City School District since 2000. I taught 7th grade Science at Lewis and Clark Middle School for 16 years and also did one year of mentoring for two teachers through the University of Missouri's Fellows Program. I moved to Thomas Jefferson at the start of the 2017 school year and really enjoyed my time working as the Instructional Coach with all the great teachers and students at TJMS. I am super excited to be back at LC!!
I earned my Bachelor of Science degree at Michigan State University, my Master of Science degree from Boise State University, and my teaching certification from Lincoln University. In 2010, I became a National Board Certified Teacher in Early Adolescent Science.
Away from school, I enjoy time with my family. My husband, Alan, is a biologist for the Missouri Department of Conservation. Our son, Zach, is a junior at Mizzou and is working toward becoming a Physician's Assistant. Our daughter, Cassie, is a senior at JCHS and plays competitive soccer. We also have an awesome, 11-year-old Brittany who is my husband's hunting dog and an all-around hilarious family pet! The five of us enjoy time hiking and going non-stop to soccer events.
