• Leary 2013

  • My name is Kate Leary and I am the Instructional Coach at TJMS. I am super excited to be a part of the staff at TJ and look forward to working with all the teachers and getting to know as many students as possible!!

I have worked in the Jefferson City School District since 2000. I taught 7th grade Science at Lewis and Clark Middle School for 16 years and also did one year of mentoring for two teachers through the University of Missouri's Fellows Program. I moved to Thomas Jefferson at the start of the 2017 school year and really enjoyed my first year in my new role.

I earned my Bachelor of Science degree at Michigan State University, my Master of Science degree from Boise State University, and my teaching certification from Lincoln University. In 2010, I became a National Board Certified Teacher in Early Adolescent Science.

Away from school, I enjoy time with my family. My husband, Alan, is a biologist for the Missouri Department of Conservation. Our son, Zach, is a sophomore at JCHS and our daughter, Cassie, is in 7th grade. We also have an awesome Brittany who is my husband's hunting dog and all-around hilarious family pet! The five of us enjoy time hiking and going non-stop to sporting events like soccer, basketball, and ice skating!
