I am the Reading Specialist at Lawson Elementary School. I teach Literacy Intervention Groups.
Literacy Intervention is a program that provides additional instruction in reading and writing to eligible students. Groups of five students who need additional support in learning reading and writing strategies meet daily with a reading specialist. Instruction is dependent on student needs in the domains of phonological awareness, phonics, high-frequency words, comprehension of literature and informational text with the overarching focus of fluency in all domains.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Education degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1993. I received my Master of Education from Lincoln University in 1998. I completed my Missouri Reading Recovery Certification in 2001 and proceeded to get my Reading Specialist Certification in 2002.
I cherish the time I get to spend teaching children to read and write! I know that it will make a significant difference in each of their lives!
