• Physical Education Mission Statement:

    A physically educated student has learned skills necessary to perform a variety of physical activities, know the implications of and the benefits from involvement in physical activities and values physical activities and its contributions to a healthy lifestyle.

    Lewis and Clark Physical Education:                                                                                                                                                                                                     

    This course will offer students the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of lifetime physical fitness activities, and multiple team and individual sports. These activities include but are not limited to: Softball/Wiffle Ball -Badminton -Kickball -Corn Hole -Washers -Soccer/Line Soccer -Pickleball -Floor Hockey -Basketball -Flag Football -Table Tennis -Track & Field -Frisbee Golf -FitnessGram Testing -Shuffleboard -Ultimate -Circuit Training -Fitness Walking -Lacrosse -IID -Team Handball -Volleyball

    Uniform: 

    Students are required to have appropriate athletic attire in Physical Education. This includes t-shirts, sweatshirts, shorts, and/or sweatpants. No jeans, cargo shorts, sleeveless shirts or tank tops, rolled shorts, shorts worn below the waist, or any clothing teachers deem inappropriate. Tennis shoes are required with socks. No sandals, slides, Crocs, boots, or black soled marking shoes. If students wear athletic clothing to school they are considered dressed out and are not required to change apparel. Locker rooms are available upon request for students that need to change. Backpacks will be placed in a designated area at the beginning of class and will remain in that area until the end of class. Security cameras will monitor this area during outdoor activities.

    Rules:

    1. Be respectful to yourself, students, and staff!!!

    2. Keep your hands and feet to yourself.

    3. No jewelry.

    4. No food or drink in gym or locker room.

    5. No gum!!!

    6. Be on time.

    7. No cell phones!!!

     

    Failure to follow any of these rules will result in one or more of the following:

                1. Warning and conference with student

                2. Loss of individual right to participate

                3. Parent contact

                4. Office referral

    *Any and all of these will result in points deducted from daily grade.

     

    Locker Rooms: 

    -Locker rooms are available upon request for students that need to change.  Students that need to use the locker room should ask their teacher for permission.

    Medical Excuse: 

    Physicians instructions should include the amount of activity permitted, specific limitations and the duration the student needs to be excused. This excuses the student from activity only, not from dressing out. A student must have a physician’s note, not a parent note to be excused from activity.

     

    Absent Work/ISS/OSS:

    If a student is absent from P.E. class for any reason they will receive a zero for that day. Students have the opportunity to earn daily points back by turning in a summary of a sports or fitness related article. Students must find the article on their own using newspaper, magazine, or online resource.  These papers are due one week after the date of the absence and will earn student full credit towards grade. PE reports are considered homework.

    Tardies: 

    Physical education students are considered tardy if they are not in their squad line by the 4-minute passing time.  

     

    Grading:  

    Students can earn up to 10 points per class period. In order to earn all 10 points students must; be present, be on time, dress out, and participate. Grades will also be given on written tests for sports units as well as FitGram Testing in the Spring.
     
    Absence -10 pts
    No athletic wear -3 pts
    Lack of participation Up to -7 pts
    Tardy -2 pts
    Gum or food issues -2 pts
