Book Review: Students complete this form when finishing an Independent Reading Book of their choice. A printout of the book cover goes in the empty box. These are displayed in the classroom to give students ideas of various books throughout various genres (types) to read. Some students may still be struggling to find books that interest them, which is why they might still feel that they don't enjoy reading. This activity is geared to work on comprehension, reading across the genres, delivering a message with a personal touch, delivering opinions intelligently and respectfully, and learning from one another, rather than just the teacher. Students also get to choose an item from our "Class Store", which they helped create with items that they suggested, once completing a Book Review.
Students will not typically have nightly homework in my class, outside of reading 20-25 minutes each day, unless they don't complete their work in class. Our daily assignments are posted in the "Assignments" tab on the classroom website, if you type in the Month and Year, and then press Filter.
My daughter Maylin wants to read "Big Books" like my seventh graders!
