Abount Mr. M
Mr. Marjamaa (pronounced Mar-Jaw-Muh, like pajama) or Mr. M, has been teaching since 2005. He earned both of his degrees from the University of Missouri, Columbia. He went into teaching because of his wife's influence as a teacher too. Before coming to Jefferson City, Mr. Marjamaa spent 17 years teaching as the head band director at Southern Boone. At Soboco, he taught classes, grades 6-12 in band and music classes. He started a successful marching band competition at SBC in 2015. Mr. M has served as a judge for All-State Band, District Band events, and several marching events. Mr. M is also the principal oboist for the Jefferson City Symphony.
Mr. M grew up as a military brat (air force) and spent time in Alaska, California, Germany, until finally ending up in Missouri. There he attended Parkway South, and was very involved with the band. He found love in a clarinet girl from a rival band (Parkway West) and ended up marrying this high school sweetheart after college. He and Jennifer have 3 kids; Katherine (trombone), Owen (percussion), and Ben (TBD, probably trumpet). The family loves to travel around the country, most recently to Gettysburg, PA, and Acadia national park. Mr. M enjoys spending time with his family, playing music, and gaming on the PC in any free time.
