Mrs. Madsen is starting her fifteenth year of teaching. This is her tenth year teaching for Jefferson City Public Schools. Mrs. Madsen graduated from Truman State University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, a minor in Mathematics, and a Master of Arts in Elementary Education at Truman State University. Most recently, Madsen completed her Specialist in Secondary Math Curriculum at the University of Missouri. Madsen began her teaching career at Matthew Middle School in the Kirksville R-III School District. She taught 6th-grade math and reading for three years, then transitioned to 8th-grade math teacher. During her time in Jefferson City, she has taught almost every high school math course: Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, Trigonometry, College Algebra, and AP Statistics.
Mrs. Madsen's favorite subject in school was math because her teachers always made learning math enjoyable. For example, her high school teachers would have them shout, "I love math; math is fun!" or have her sing or dance to memorize formulas or concepts. Mrs. Madsen hopes to share her love for learning math with her students!Mrs. Madsen also enjoys running, swimming, and biking. If you see her out running or biking, please don’t hesitate to wave or cheer her on! She has competed in numerous half marathons, four full marathons, and several triathlons including a Half Ironman in 2016. Mrs. Madsen is married to Tyler Madsen who works at Farm Bureau in their communications office. They have two young children, Clayton and Aubrey.
