I received my Masters degree in chemistry in 2010 from the University of Notre Dame and moved to Jefferson City where I worked as a chemist at the State Public Health Laboratory. In 2013, my family moved to Farmington, MO where I started teaching at Mineral Area College. I taught traditional classes, designed a hybrid online course, and traveled to local high schools to offer dual enrollment classes in chemistry. I fell in love with teaching high school and in 2017 transitioned to teaching chemistry and physics at North County High School.
I love teaching AND learning! I'm currently working on my EdS in Curriculum and Instruction, and I've attended numerous conferences and classes for science teachers. My favorites have been the Einstein Plus summer academy for physics teachers at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in Waterloo, Ontario and Schrodinger's Class at the Institute for Quantum Computing at the University of Waterloo. I stay in touch with the educators from all over the world that I met there, and I even completed an internship with one of them in Canada for one of my EdS classes. I hope to attend the teachers' workshops at LIGO in Washington and CERN in Switzerland in the next 5 years!
We moved back to Jefferson City in July 2024 with our four kids and two dogs. Luckily I love sports, because we spend most of our time outside of school at football, basketball, and soccer games and dance competitions.
