• English IV Syllabus

    Course Description:

    Welcome to English IV, a thirty-six week twelfth grade course.  English IV builds on the reading and writing skills developed in English III; it focuses on British literature and composition.  Students complete assignments in reading, writing, and oral presentations designed to enhance comprehension and skills in logic and critical thinking.  Students will research, draft, develop, and revise various compositions such as collaborative research presentations, chapter expert presentations, journals, analytical responses and formal papers.  Reading material for the semester consists of Beowulf, medieval literature, Macbeth, and Lord of the Flies along with several nonfiction texts of various topics.  This course meets high school graduation requirements for English and is designed for the grade level student who plans to enter the workforce, enter a junior college, or attend a four-year college or university.
