Hello. My name is Paula Lillard Smith and I am lucky enough to work with the wonderful staff and kiddos at Thomas Jefferson Middle School as a Behavior Interventionist and run the Transition Room here. I am not a Jefferson City native but have been able to spend the last 20+ years working with students with emotional and behavioral needs. My undergraduate degree is from St Louis University in Education and History, and graduate degree is from Webster University in Special Education with an emphasis in Emotional and Behavioral Disorders. I spent 15 years in the St Louis area working at a couple of wonderful schools where I gained a tremendous amount of experience working with students from Kindergarten to Seniors in High School. I then moved to the heart of Missouri and worked for Columbia Public Schools for 5 years with the last 4 as the Special Education Dept. Chair for Douglass High School. While I loved working at Douglass High School when an opportunity came to join JCPS and to work in Behavior Intervention I was thrilled. My husband and I have moved to Jefferson City and are loving it. I have 3 dogs, and am the world's greatest Aunt to 2 kiddos here in Jefferson City and 1 in Arnold. I love being a part of the JCPS family and specifically a Thomas Jefferson Patriot and truly believe that together we make a difference. The best way to reach me is by email at paula.smith@jcschools.us. Here's to a great school year!!!
