This course provides students with the primary knowledge and skills needed for a future career in childcare or early childhood education. Students have the opportunity to complete their practicum hours, child development associate training, and course work in an early childhood setting under the guidance and supervision of a certified CTE instructor and early childhood educators. Early Childhood Professions instructional time encompasses three high school class periods per day, five days a week. Students will use reflective writing and discussion to process and learn from experiences in the field. Students will be required to spend at least 120 hours of child development/early childhood education in class training + 480 hours of experience working directly with children over two years.
