Nichols Career Center Welding students Take 4th and 9th places at Nevada Welding Competition
On January 26th, 2013, the Nichols Career Center welding class participated in a welding competition in Nevada, MO. They competed against 120 students from 44 other vocational schools around the state and as far away as Kansas. Only 52 students were judged in the competition out of the 120. Students had to be able to read measurements, blueprints, identify welding rods and use proper welding procedures. It was a very intense and precise competition, hence only 52 students being judged.
Jacob Branson from Fatima High School took 4th place and Daniel Raps from Jefferson City High School took 9th place. They were the only two students from the same school to finish in the Top 10. Each student received a trophy and a $500.00 scholarship to the Missouri Welding Insititute in which both plan to attend and pursue their career in Welding.
