Welcome to Thomas Jefferson Middle School!! At TJMS we are engaging minds, facilitating critical thinking, encouraging readers, inspiring writers and having high expectations.
WELCOME TO THE 2019-2020 SCHOOL YEAR! JUST A REMINDER... SCHOOL WILL START AT 8:50AM, TJ'S DOORS WILL OPEN AT 8:20AM (UNLESS YOU ARE ENROLLED IN BEFORE SCHOOL CARE THROUGH THE YMCA). SCHOOL WILL DISMISS AT 3:50PM.
IMPORTANT SCHOOL BUS INFORMATION - Special permission to ride a different bus will not be granted due to overcrowding on the buses. Students must ride their assigned bus.
NEW THIS YEAR... WE HAVE AN AFTER HOURS ACTIVITY BUS. Transportation will be available for all middle school students who are participating in after school extracurricular activities (sports, clubs, etc), students who are receiving after school tutoring, and students who are fulfilling other district code of conduct requirements. The after school activities bus will run Monday through Thursday, and pick up students from school at approximately 5:30 pm to transport them home. Students wishing to ride the Activities Bus will need to sign up with an Administrator or in the office with a secretary by 1:00pm EVERY DAY they wish to ride. If they do not sign up by 1:00pm, they will not be able to ride the Activity Bus that day. Parents may also call school at 573-659-3250 by 1:00pm each day to get their student on the Activity Bus.
BOYS & GIRLS CLUB Afterschool Program will be closed on ALL Early Release Days this year. Students will need to have alternative plans for transportation at the end of the day on all early release days.
2019-2020 Y-CLUB Before school Care at TJMS: Need something for your middle school student to do before school starts? Join Y-Club @ TJMS. This State-licensed program will be held from 7:00-8:20 am each day and includes supervised activities like sports/recreation time, homework stations, art and crafts and more! Monthly Fees are: $65/month regular pay. $35/month (reduced lunch students). $0/month (free lunch students). All familiies must sign up for regular pay to begin services. Y-Club will be verify free/reduced family status with JCPS before September 1 (first draft date) and will discount rates accordingly. Any student with a discounted rate must attend at least 80% of days offered. Register at the Knowles Y Welcome Desk at 424 Stadium Blvd. Call 761-0716 or 761-3196 with any questions.
Early Release will be Wednesday, Oct. 16th. School will dismiss 2 hours early at 1:50 pm. There will be NO Boys & Girls Club on Early Release Days.
TJMS Yearbooks are now on sale. Ordering is available until February 28, 2020. Yearbooks are $15.00 (if ordered by January 1, 2020). If ordered after January 1, 2020, price of yearbook will increase to $20.00. To order, visit: www.inter-state.com/yearbook and enter code: 42493W
MATH TUTORING is CANCELLED on Tuesday, Oct. 8th due to Parent/Teacher Conferences.

FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) will meet on Thursday, Oct. 17th at 7:30 am in the gym.
Ecology Club will meet second Thursday of month. First meeting wil be: Thursday, Nov. 14th from 4:00-5:00pm in room 712.
Art Club will meet first Friday of the month. Next meeting will be: Friday, Nov. 1st at 7:45 am in room 161.
SOS will meet first Monday of the month. Next meeting will be: Monday, Nov. 4th at 7:30 am in room 707.
Math Counts will meet on Monday, Oct. 21st @ 4:00-5:00 pm in room 811.
FCCLA will meeet Thursday, Nov. 14th @ 4:00-5:30 pm in room 154.
Patriot Readers Challenge is a readiing challenge with three levels of achievement that students can reach. The books to be read are the current Mark Twain and Truman Award nominees. Students need to pass a short quiz over the book which is located in their team's Liibrary Google Classroom. If you have questions you may contact Mrs. Burton in the Media Center.
All 6th, 7th and 8th graders can participate in Cross Country. The 7th and 8th graders will travel to out of town meets during the season and 6th graders will run in a few meets, which are mostly held here at Cole County Park. The ace distance is 2 miles on grass surface in parks or on golf courses. We will practice every day after school from 4:00-5:30pm. All you need to bring is good shoes, shorts, t-shirt and a water bottle. If you are interested in running cross country, come see Coach Harris in room 108. You can also email her at: email@example.com
