Hello! My name is Heather Walters. My husband and I have two wonderful kids who keep us busy 100% of the time! This year will be my 19th year as an educator at Thomas Jefferson Middle School. I taught 7th grade mathematics for 12 years and this is my 7th year teaching 8th grade math at TJ. I earned my Bachelor's Degree from Southeast MO State University in Elementary and Middle School Education, with an emphasis in mathematics. I also earned my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of MO - Columbia.
I love to spend time with my family biking, kayaking and hiking. In my spare time, I enjoy reading sci-fi, fantasy, and mystery novels. In the spring and summer, I absolutely love growing flowers of all different varieties. In addition, my husband and I enjoy growing a vegetable garden in the summer. I also love to scrapbook, sew, and do other crafts when I can find the time!
I love teaching math and I especially enjoy teaching middle school students. It is exciting to watch students learn new ways to explore and solve math problems. I also find middle school students quite hilarious and fun to teach! They always have something interesting to say; there is never a dull moment in class!
