Prom is May 4th. You can miss 14 non-documented days (98 periods). If you need to make-up days, we will hold Saturday School on March 23rd and every Saturday in April. See your principal if you have questions about making-up days.
Our 2024 Prom Committee meeting has been rescheduled from last week to THIS THURSDAY! Please make plans to meet in Mrs. Wick's room, 231, at 3:45pm.
Hey JayNation! Our track team is hosting a meet this afternoon! Field events start at 4, running, at 4:30. Hope to see the stands full to cheer on our JayBirds!
My name is Zack Shoki and I am honored to serve as your Student Body President for this school year.Have you read two Gateway nominees from the library? If so, it's time to vote. Stop by the library for a ballot or look for the Google form in your email. Also, we will be having our annual Gateway lunch in the library Thursday for all students who have read two Gateway nominees. See a librarian to sign up for the free lunch.

The Jay of the Day is Jayden Roling, who deadlifted a record 700 pounds at the weightlifting competition this past Saturday.

"Prom is just around the corner on Saturday, May 4th! Your 2024 prom sponsors are holding planning meetings for our prom committee. If you are interested in helping to plan the MOST AMAZING event of the year, please plan on joining us on Thursday, March 14th at 3:45pm in Mrs. Wick's room (231). If you attend 8 meetings or work events, you will receive a FREE ticket to prom! This event is for Juniors, Seniors, and their guests only."
The booster club is purchasing tickets for any student who plans to attend the game. Students will check in at the main gate with me, Dr. Fisher and/or JR Simmons. Deadline to Sign up for the spirit bus is 2:00 p.m. today. The bus will depart JCHS at 11:45 am and return around 8:00 pm. As always, riders need to have 90% attendance, must be passing all classes, and no OSS or SSC all year and all ISS must be served. Permission forms can be picked up in the main office with Kim Baird.

If you said yes to any of those questions you would love to buy a sweatshirt from the Entrepreneurship B class, if you are interested it's only $25 for a sweatshirt, and you can either email one of the students in the class, or you can go to room 215, thank you for supporting us!
Brayden Werdehausen finished third at state this weekend, Brayden finished his career with a 159-32 record, ranking seventh all-time in Jays' program history in wins.
Alexis Dunwiddie finished 5th at state this weekend, she ends her Junior year with a 33-6 record, and is a 3 time District Champion. She placed 6th at State her Freshman year and her Sophomore year she was the first Girl State Champion in Jay history!
Wrestling equipment turn in is Wednesday after school. Summer and offseason schedules will be handled out at this time.

Dance competed in State this weekend and finished fourth in kick, and second in mix. This is the highest that JC dance has placed in a long time.

Seniors make plans to attend the upcoming FAFSA Frenzy that will take place on Thurs, Feb 8 at 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Please bring your parents, tax information for both you and your parents, and your FSA ID. See your counselor for more information.
FCA will be selling shirts for $18 to raise money for Fields of Faith an event that FCA sponsors. Ordering is open until Feb. 29th. Check with Riley Schonhardt, Maddie Woods, or Mrs. Nichols for more information.

GOOD NEWS! We have raised over 300 dollars for Special Olympics Missouri and we have met our goal. As promised, Student Council will be dying Mr. Gale JAY RED!!! This groundbreaking event will start TOMORROW at 8:10 am in the connector area, so come into school early if you would like to spectate
The FBLA will be selling t-shirts this Friday during lunch shifts. The cost will be $20 and the proceeds will go towards travel costs/entry fees for state competition. The theme of the shirts is, "Jay Birds stand on Business". There is a limited quantity, so act fast . You can see Mr. Herriman in room 213 or any FBLA member for details. We appreciate the support!
Students who did not meet with their counselor to complete enrollment this week should email their counselor for an appointment to complete their enrollment.
It's time for the library's annual Blind Date with a Book. Come to the library between now and Valentine's Day to choose a wrapped book for your "date." EAch person who participates gets a piece of candy and will be entered to win one of the three grand prizes on Valentine's Day.
Speaking of the Library, there is still time to order a shirt or sticker for JC Reads Week. They are taking orders until this Saturday.

ASL Club
"Have you ever wanted to communicate without words? To connect with a whole new community? Well, that's what our ASL Club is all about! With American Sign Language, we can express ourselves beyond speech, and we can bridge gaps with those who are deaf or hard of hearing. Learning ASL isn't just about communication; it's about understanding, empathy, and inclusion. Meetings are held every Tuesday and Thursday at 8:00 AM next to room 322! "

Activity Bus
-
Activity Bus: Beginning on Tuesday September 5th transportation will be made available for JCHS who are bus eligible and students who are participating in after school extracurricular activities (i.e. sports, clubs, etc.), and those receiving after school tutoring and students who are fulfilling other district code of conduct requirements. The after school activity bus will run Monday through Thursday with a pick up time of 6:15 at JCHS.

Capital Area Regional College Fair
The Capital Area Regional College Fair will be Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at the LINC.

Parents/guardians are encouraged to attend as well! There will be a FAFSA workshop and a College 101 workshop that evening. -
Build My Future Construction Career Day
On October 18, 2023, JCHS would like to take any student that is interested in the construction industry to attend an interactive showcase. Students will participate in learning labs with various construction industry practices such as carpentry, concrete/asphalt mix, heavy equipment, surveying, welding, and much more. If you are interested in attending, please complete the form below. Attendance, grades, and behavior incidents will be evaluated for participation.

Please complete the ASVAB testing request form if you are interested in testing on Tuesday, Sept 19th. Testing will take place at 8:40 a.m. in the fourth level conference room. Forms can be found in student Google Classroom.
