• THREE DIMENSIONAL ART – GRADES 10-12

    3D Art is a semester course which will introduce methods and materials used to create sculptures and three-dimensional art pieces.  Projects may include: paper mache, basket weaving, functional art, three dimensional letters, linear toothpick sculpture, plaster techniques, etc.  This class will also include art history.

    Intro to Art – Grades 9-12 – Credit: .50

    Art I is an introduction to the basic fundamentals of art.  Emphasis is on the basics necessary for success with two-dimensional art skills and techniques.  Units will be based on the elements of art. Independent problem solving and critical thinking skills, as well as basic reading and writing skills are necessary for success in this course.

     

    Intro to Art is a year long course and meets daily according to the 7 period schedule.  The successful completion of the course earns 1 credit. Intro to Art is a prerequisite for Drawing and Painting I and subsequent courses.    

     

    FINAL PRODUCTS – Projects will be graded on the following: Minimum requirements met, craftsmanship, creativity, whether the deadline was met, and on-taskness during class.   A scoring guide will accompany each project, so that the student will know what he/she will be graded on. Scoring guides can be found on Google Classroom.  

     

    MAKE-UP WORK – Make-up work is the sole responsibility of the student.  Make-up work will be provided at the request of the student for all documented absences.  For undocumented or unexcused absences, student will need to request a conference with the teacher to discuss a plan of action and whether make-up work will be accepted.  

     

    INCOMPLETE WORKIncomplete work will not be accepted for any reason!  The student will have ample time in class to complete the work assigned.  If for some reason the student is not able to meet the required deadline, arrangements should be made with the teacher.  

     

    MISSING WORK – Any work that is missing or has not been turned in will be counted as a zero until it is placed in the designated location.  Teacher will not look for artwork in student storage. Turning in work is the student’s responsibility. 

     

    CLASSROOM DISCIPLINE – Students need to be aware of all policies and procedures for the school and classroom rules in the JCHS Student and Parent Handbook.  All students will be held accountable to those rules and expectations.  Please refrain from wearing hats or headwear during class and in the building.  Please also wear appropriate attire in accordance with the school dress code. Please do not be offended if I feel the need to send you to the office to have your clothing checked.
