Mrs. Kristen Ann Wick
Growing up in Fulton, just up the road, I have always been fascinated by the ocean and its creatures. With many advanced SCUBA diving and sailing certifications under my belt, I took my passion and turned it into a lifelong pursuit in education! Heading to San Diego, California after graduating from Fulton High School was quite an eye-opening experience that I will forever be grateful for and appreciate!
My educational background includes:
BS Marine Science: Biology - University of San Diego, California
Alternative Teaching Certification - Texas A&M University in conjunction with Gregory-Portland Independent School District, Texas
MS Secondary Education: Curriculum and Instruction - Texas A&M University, Texas
While attending the University of San Diego, I met and married my wonderful husband of just over 19 years. He served in the United States Navy, allowing our family to experience the joy of many unique communities all over the continental United States. I began my teaching career working with a non-profit science education foundation in San Diego, California, teaching marine science curriculum to underserved youth. While stationed in Texas, I earned my Masters in Secondary Education, and have been able to share my LOVE of science and the world around us with my students! I have been blessed to teach Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Physical Science in my years as an educator, and I am so happy to be joining the JCHS Science Department staff this school year!
After 20 years of service, my husband has officially retired from the Navy, and we are so pleased to settle down in Central Missouri with our family! You will quite certainly see me with my lovely entourage of three children joining in as many events Jefferson City and the school district has to offer! When not juggling the busy life of mom and teacher, I have been involved as an executive board member for multiple naval ship's Family Readiness Groups, as well as leading our two daughters' Girl Scout troops for the past six years and volunteering with our son's Cub Scout pack! WHEW! While we are enjoying our third year in the community, we are not afraid to jump in feet first, and have been very busy making Jefferson City our new HOME over the past three years!
