INTRO TO ART - 1 credit
An introduction to the basic fundamentals of art. Emphasis on the basics necessary for success with two-dimensional and three-dimensional art skills. Units will be based on the elements of art. Independent problem solving skills, critical thinking skills, and basic reading and writing skills are necessary for success in this course.
PAINTING I & II - .5 credits each
These courses focus on a variety of painting techniques using acrylic paint on a canvas board or stretched canvas. Units will be based on the elements of art. Independent problem solving skills, critical thinking skills, and basic reading and writing skills are necessary for success in this course.
Painting I is a half credit course that-meets daily according to the 7 period schedule. The successful completion of the course earns .5 credit. Painting I is a prerequisite for Painting II, and subsequent courses.
DRAWING I & II - .5 credits each
Drawing I, is a course that introduces various techniques and methods of drawing. Units will be based on the elements and principles of art. Independent problem solving skills, critical thinking skills, and basic reading and writing skills are necessary for success in this course.
Drawing I is a half credit course that meets daily according to the 7 period schedule. The successful completion of the course earns .5 credit. Drawing I is a prerequisite for Drawing II, and subsequent courses.
SENIOR STUDIO - 1 credit
Senior Studio is a highly advanced course of two dimensional and three dimensional art involving independent study of paintings and drawing media, art styles and as well as the preparation and development of a portfolio. Art careers, art opportunities in the community and art criticism will be researched as units during the course.
Prerequisites for this course are the successful completion of Intro to Art, Drawing I & II, and Painting I & II.PRINTMAKING - .5 credit
Printmaking is an introduction to the basic types of printmaking. Emphasis is on the basic elements of art and how they relate to relief printing and screen printing. Printmaking involved a study of the main areas of printing by hand. Projects are completed using a variety of techniques: drawing, carving, inking, printing, and creating stencils for screen printing. This class will introduce well-known printmakers and explore their techniques as well as a brief history of printmaking.
