• Check out what makes JC Healthy Schools so special in this highlight reel!

  • In 2020, four elementary schools in the Jefferson City Schools District were named as some of America's Healthiest Schools by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation. The schools recognized were Callaway Hills, East, South, and Thorpe Gordon elementary.

These four schools were among the 517 schools nationwide to earn a spot on the Alliance for a Healthier Generation’s (Healthier Generation) 2020 list of America’s Healthiest Schools for their commitment to promoting quality nutrition, regular physical activity and strong wellness policies. The schools were also among only 37 schools in Missouri to receive this recognition.

  • Callaway Hills Elementary students have enjoyed becoming chefs once a week after school for Cooking Club! Started by the Health Schools, Healthy Communities initative in 2017, the Callaway Hills Cooking Club has helped students learn how to cook healthy meals for themselves and their families.

With a great model at Callaway Hills, East School also started its own Cooking Club during the 2019-2020 school year. Cooking Club is a fun after-school activity that gives students the tools to lead healthy, happy lives!
