- National Walk to School Day
-
Elementary Schools in the Jefferson City School District are participating in National Walk to School Day. School staff will encourage students to walk to school together under the supervision of an adult staff leader. As part of ongoing JC Healthy Schools efforts, National Walk to School Day creates safer routes for walking and emphasizes the importance of increasing physical activity among children, improving pedestrian safety in neighborhoods and near schools, decreasing traffic congestion, and building connections between families, schools, and the community. Parent participation is not required for students to participate. National Walk to School Day is expected to include more than 5,000 events across all 50 states.
